Tesla Model 3 earns ‘superior rating for front crash prevention’ in IIHS safety tests
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recently released the results of the first safety test of the Tesla Model 3. According to the results shared by the organization, which is presently carrying out safety tests of the Model 3, the electric vehicle from Tesla Motors has achieved a ‘superior rating for front crash prevention.’
Sharing details about how Tesla Model 3 has earned the ‘superior’ rating for the front crash prevention tests, IIHS has revealed that the vehicle passed the 12 mph and 25 mph front crash prevention tests by successfully avoiding a crash at both the speed levels.
The ‘superior’ rating which Model 3 has achieved for IIHS’ front crash prevention tests is the same as the rating already achieved by Tesla’s Model S and Model X electric vehicles. The rating was somewhat expected because all the three vehicles boast the same active safety features -- including Automatic Emergency Braking -- powered by the Autopilot system.
Meanwhile, despite the fact that IIHS has not yet completed the crash tests for Tesla Model 3, the organization has started releasing the results of the safety tests which it has already carried out, including the tests of front crash prevention and headlights. In the organization’s stringent headlight tests, Model 3 managed to achieve an ‘acceptable’ rating.
