Tesla confirms official record Q3 production number of 80,142 vehicles
In a recent press release, US electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors has officially confirmed that it has hit a new record production number in the 2018 third quarter. The news resulted in an increase of 2 points for the TSLA stock.
According to the production numbers disclosed by Tesla, the company produced a total number of 80,142 vehicles in the third quarter of 2018. The latest production figures underscore a 50% increase over the automaker’s previous all-time high production numbers achieved in 2018 second quarter.
In its breakdown of the record-high third-quarter production number of 80,142 vehicles, Tesla has revealed that it produced a total of 53,239 units of the Model 3 during the quarter, and a combined total of 26,903 units of the Model S and Model X.
Drawing attention to the Model 3 production ramp up in the third quarter, Tesla said in its press release: “In the last week of the quarter, we produced over 5,300 Model 3 vehicles.... meaning that we achieved a production rate of more than 10,000 drive units per week.”
Tesla has also revealed that its 2018 third-quarter deliveries, however, fell short of its expectation of ~85,000 deliveries. As per the figures shared by the automaker, its third-quarter deliveries stood at 83,500 vehicles; with the deliveries of Model 3, Model S and Model X respectively being 55,840 units, 14,470 units and 13,190 units.
