Ryder places order for 500 all-electric vans with new startup Chanje
According to a recent announcement, Ryder is placing an order of a big fleet of 500 all-electric vans with a new electric vehicle startup Chanje. The 500 all-electric vans which Ryder is ordering from Chanje will chiefly be used for the expansion of Ryder’s electric commercial truck rental and ChoiceLease fleet in North America.
The new order for Chanje’s 500 all-electric vans being placed by Ryder is in addition to its previous order of 125 vans from the new startup in 2017.
Chanje had announced the launch of a commercial all-electric van in the US in summer last year. In its announcement, Chanje had said that Ryder is its “exclusive sales channel and service partner.”
At the unveiling of its commercial all-electric van, Chanje had revealed that its medium-duty panel van has the capability to offer a 65-mile range with a full 6,000-lb payload, and up to a 100-mile range with a 3,000-lb payload. The company later updated the range of the van to “150 miles” on its website; with its cargo space also having been updated from 580 cu.ft to 675 cu.ft.
Meanwhile, with regard to Ryder’s new order with Chanje, Dennis Cooke -- Ryder’s President of Global Fleet Management Solutions -- said that Ryder is “proud to expand our relationship with Chanje.” Cooke further added that the new order underscores Ryder’s “commitment to maximizing the performance of our customers’ fleets, while providing the flexibility and convenience to implement EVs into their operations.”
