Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission electric car rolls off production line in China

In a recent announcement, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co. -- a joint venture between Nissan Motor Co and Dongfeng Motor Group Co -- said that it has commenced the production of the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission electric car in China.

The Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission is the first electric car to be manufactured by Japanese automaker Nissan in China, for Chinese buyers. Nissan is confident that the electric car will herald a new era of electrification in China, the biggest automobile market in the world.

In announcing that the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission has hit production in China, Dongfeng Nissan said that the production of the electric car is now underway at the company’s Huadu manufacturing plant. The plant has played an important role for Nissan over the last 15 years, ever since it partnered with Dongfeng to start its operations in China.

The Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission electric car has been developed on the same platform as the Nissan LEAF -- the world’s top-ranking electric car -- and the Sylghy, which is Nissan’s best-seller sedan in the Chinese market.

About the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission electric car, Hiroto Saikawa -- President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co. -- said that the vehicle will become one of the main players in the Chinese EV market, and will “pave the way for our Nissan Intelligent Mobility strategy” in China.
