Daimler plans to deliver eCascadia fleet to leasing partners by 2018 end
German truck manufacturer Daimler has revealed in a recent announcement that it is planning to deliver a fleet of class 8 electric truck -- called the Freightliner eCascadia -- to leasing partners by the end of 2018.
According to Daimler’s announcement, Penske Truck Leasing and NFI are the two leasing partners to whom the Freightliner eCascadia fleet will be delivered. The two companies will be among the first users of the eCascadia, as they are partnering for the ‘Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet’ program which includes the eCascadia as well as the eM2 106 medium-duty truck.
In announcing that the Penske Truck Leasing and NFI as its leasing partners for a fleet of eCascadia electric trucks, Daimler said that that it will be delivering 10 units each of eCascadia and 10 eM2 to Penske; and 10 units to NFI.
The announcement by Daimler comes within a few weeks of the unveiling of the Freightliner eCascadia, which is an electric version of the company’s Cascadia heavy-duty long-distance truck.
The Freightliner eCascadia is being launch by Daimler to challenge US electric vehicle maker Tesla’s electric truck --- Tesla Semi. Daimler has revealed that the eCascadia will feature a long, U.S.-style hood, and will be equipped with 550 kWh battery pack, capable of giving the truck a range of 250 miles.
