Chinese battery maker Tianjin Lishen plans to open sales office in Germany

According to latest Reuters report, based on the information shared by unidentified sources, Chinese battery maker Tianjin Lishen is planning to open its first sales office in Europe. The office will be located in Germany.

As per the sources, Tianjin Lishen is reaching out top German automakers about supplying batteries for powering their electric vehicles (EVs). More specifically, two unnamed sources have reportedly told Reuters that Volkswagen and Daimler currently have negotiations underway with unlisted Tianjin Lishen Battery.

The Reuters report has disclosed that one source ‘in the know’ of the proceedings at Volkswagen has revealed that although the automaker and Tianjin Lishen have not yet officially signed any agreements related to lithium-ion battery supply contracts, the two companies are presently in advanced-stage talks on the matter.

However, an official Volkswagen spokesperson refused to comment on the reportedly ongoing talks between the automaker and Tianjin Lishen, and simply said that “there is nothing to say at present on this topic.”

Meanwhile, it is being rumored that Tianjin Lishen’s sales office in Germany will be located close to Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg. A source at Tianjin Lishen has confirmed that the company has sent samples of its batteries to Volkswagen and Daimler and is “waiting for the next stage - mass production.”
