Canadian start-up Electra Meccanica delivers its first electric three-wheeler in US
In a recent announcement, small Canadian start-up electric automaker Electra Meccanica has revealed that it has delivered the first unit of its tiny electric three-wheeler -- called Electra Meccanica Solo -- in the US, after having received the certification for sale of the all-electric vehicle in the country.
The first unit of the Electra Meccanica Solo in the US has been delivered to a customer in Los Angeles. The cost of the ‘Solo’ electric three-wheeler in the US is $15,500 (CAN$20,000). Electra Meccanica is aiming at the sales of nearly 75,000 units of the ‘Solo’ in the US over the next three years.
The ‘Solo’ three-wheeled electric vehicle produced by Electra Meccanica a single seat electric vehicle, equipped with a 17.3-kwh lithium-ion battery pack which takes only three hours to recharge, on a Level 2 connection.
According to Electra Meccanica, the ‘Solo’ three-wheeled electric vehicle has the capability to deliver a range of 100 miles on a single charge. The 82 horsepower electric motor of the three-wheeler gives it the power to accelerate from zero to 60 miles in barely 8 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is 68 miles per hour.
The ‘Solo’ also offers a few luxury features, including a heated seat and power windows. The three-wheeler has a cargo space of 10 cubic feet which is divided into a front trunk and a hatchback behind the driver.
