ABB launches ‘Terra HP’ 350kW electric vehicle charging system

Zurich-headquartered multinational technology firm ABB has launched its own full 350 kW electric vehicle (EV) charging system -- ‘Terra HP’ -- this week. The company claims that the new technology which it has unveiled can add 200 km of range for an EV in barely 8 minutes of charging.
The new Terra HP charging technology for electric vehicles was launched by ABB at Hannover Messe this week, with the BMW i8 electric car.
The launch of the Terra HP electric vehicle charging system marks the latest ‘EV charging technology’ effort by ABB, which is already involved in a number of leading EV charging networks.
Touting that the Terra HP charging system is “the first 350 kW electric vehicle charging system”, ABB has revealed that the system is capable of charging 400 V cars as well as 800 V cars at full power.
In connection with the launch of the Terra HP charging system, Frank Muehlon -- Chief of ABB’s Global Business for EV Charging -- said that the key component of the ABB philosophy is: “Creating innovative state-of-the-art and energy efficient solutions which are scalable to expand and flex with our customers’ needs.”
Meuhlon also asserted that ABB is committed to support the global expansion of EV charging systems “to drive cleaner environments.”
